Important Principles of Interior Design!

The principles of interior design are the guidelines that help in creating a successfully built interior. The Childs Dreyfus Group follows all the essential principles of interior design to create spaces that are aesthetically as well as functionally appealing. Here’s a look at the important principles of interior design:

Balance

When we talk of balance, we talk of visual balance. In interior design, balance implies distributing the different elements uniformly throughout the space to form a visual balance.

Emphasis

To emphasize on something implies offering that thing prominence and value. In interior design, emphasis suggests offering importance to a particular object or area. It helps in building a focal point within the space.

Rhythm

Creating rhythm in space implies repeating certain elements all through space. In music, rhythm is a repetitive beat that forms a musical pattern. Rhythm in interior design can be achieved by the repetitious use of elements.

Contrast

Adding contrast in interiors makes way for interest and drama. Placing contrasting elements next to each other creates emphasis on areas and objects. The use of contrast, however, should not be overdone, else it won’t create a good impact.

Proportion and scale

Scale and proportion are concerned with the size of an object. These two things are entwined in interior design and are concerned with the size of elements concerning other elements or to space as a whole. Scale is concerned with the visual weight of an object in comparison to other objects next to it or space and objects surrounding it.
